DESCRIPTION: An Anthropology Project Based Class guides a comprehensive study into the history and culture of the first people in North and Central America. This course includes analysis of archived authentic narratives, documents, research, images and recordings of oral traditions. Students will also investigate treaties, de-culturalization, historical trauma and contemporary issues involving indigenous Americans. The Native American Literature component chronicles and celebrates significant authors who established a place for Native literature; includes bio-bibliographies of forty authors, maps, suggestions for further reading, and a timeline which details major works of Native American literature and mainstream American literature, as well as significant social, cultural, and historical events.
